A total of 15 outstanding Community Safety and Security Programme (CSSP) initiatives will receive the National CSSP Award on Tuesday, 18 July 2006, from A/P Ho Peng Kee, Senior Minister of State for Law and Home Affairs, for excellence in harnessing community involvement to identify and address specific security issues faced in their neighbourhoods.
2 These award-winning CSSP initiatives were carefully selected from a pool of 87 nominations shortlisted from a pool of nearly 700 CSSP projects implemented between January to December 2005, for their unique approach in tackling safety and security issues.
3 The National CSSP Awards was started in May 2003 to commend CSSP initiatives and community volunteers on a national-level. Under the CSSP programmes, residents, PA grassroots leaders, the Home Team work together to identify community issues and problems affecting the safety and security of their neighbourhoods. CSSP promotes the spirit of self-help and mutual support, and fosters community cohesion while promoting awareness that every member of the community can play a part in the community's safety and security.
