Two members of the Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) terrorist group who had been detained on Orders of Detention (ODs) under the Internal Security Act (ISA) since Sep 2002 have been released and placed on Restriction Orders (ROs) under the ISA.
2 Said bin Ismail and Munain bin Turru were released on 14 Sep 2006 when their ODs expired. They were placed on 2-year ROs under the ISA, which took effect on 15 Sep 2006 and which subject them to conditions governing their activities and movements. Both Said and Munain had cooperated with ISD in the investigations into the JI, and had responded positively to rehabilitation, including religious counselling.
