Our Volunteers

Volunteers are not substitutes for regular staff.  They complement one another, working together and sharing responsibility.  In fact, some volunteers are appointed to fill certain key posts.  We need our volunteers to consider their assignment a professional commitment. Hence, the following are important for volunteers to know:

Volunteer Records

SCDF maintains a personnel record of each volunteer and information is strictly confidential. The records are retained and self-maintained in the Home Team Volunteer System.  Full personnel records are accessible by SCDF, the Ministry of Home Affairs and you as a volunteer.  Reference and background checks aside, all volunteer records will not be shared outside of the Home Team without your consent.

Reference and Background Checks

SCDF’s CD Lionhearters Club strives to maintain a safe and congenial environment with honest, trustworthy, qualified and reliable volunteers who do not present a risk or harm to their co-volunteers and beneficiaries. SCDF may perform, or may request that third parties perform, reference and background checks at any time in the application or volunteer management process. Volunteers who refuse permission for conduct of these checks will not be accepted.  All reference and background check results will be treated in strict confidence.

Recruitment Process

The CD Lionhearters Club membership is open to all students from tertiary institutions which currently offer the CD Lionhearters Club as Co-Curricular Activity. Interested students can apply with their respective institution’s CD Lionhearters Club.

If you are keen to explore the idea of setting up a CD Lionhearters Club in your institution, please contact Ms Tan Shi Hui at or Ms Genevieve Lee at

Volunteer agree that the organization may, at any time or for whatever reason, decide to terminate the service of the volunteer or make changes in the nature of the volunteer assignment.

Emergency Contact Information

It is the responsibility of each volunteer to regularly update their personal contact information and emergency contact information.  This update can be made by contacting your club’s person-in-charge.
