HTN: Why did you choose to apply for the HOME Award?

I applied for the HOME Award, as I wanted to secure my spot in Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF). This is because I want to work as a paramedic. Before I won this award, I was studying to be a nurse.

HTN: How did you feel when you received the news that you were one of the HOME Awardees? Was it a very proud moment for both your family and yourself?

I was ecstatic to hear about the acceptance of my application. My family was very proud of me. This made me prepare for the career that’s waiting for me.

HTN: Were you inspired by anyone and would you would like to thank them?

I would like to thank my family and my ex-girlfriend for the moral support and the financial support that they have given me. I would also like to thank my teachers, paramedic mentors, medics and my fellow classmates for helping me excel in my course.

HTN: Have you met anyone from your future department ?

I have met my future colleagues who are currently working as paramedics at different fire stations. They shared with me the insights of being a paramedic and their passion in saving lives at every ambulance call.

HTN: What do your peers or family members think about you receiving the award and you becoming a home team officer after your graduation?

They have been very supportive of me and they encouraged me to further my knowledge after graduating. They ensure this by making sure that I continue to study and making sure that I do not forget the skills I learned.

HTN: Could you tell me how the HOME Award has made a change in your life?

It has helped me financially as I am from a low- income family. But more than that, it has also helped me to secure my future.

HTN: Would you like to give one advice to your fellow juniors who want to apply for the HOME Awards?

To my juniors who are applying for HOME Award, please study hard and do well in your course.
