“One Journey, One Heartbeat” is a collection of short stories that showcases the challenges faced by ICA, and how ICA and other Home Team Departments overcame these challenges as one Home Team.
The publication includes information on the formation of ICA on 1 Apr 2003 with the merger of Singapore Immigration & Registration (SIR) and part of the Customs and Excise Department (CED). It highlights challenges such as the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and the escape of Mas Selmat Kastari from the Whitley Road Detention Centre. These adversities strengthened ICA’s innovative strategies and teamwork to overcome the challenge. Other innovations included the implementation of the Singapore Biometric Passport (Biopass System), the migration of the national database to the Central Information & Registration Information System (CIRIS). These helped improve ICA’s services and better respond to operational needs.
