More about this scheme
What you'll do
You will engage each supervisee minimally once a month, work closely with SPS staff and submit progress reports outlining his/her reintegration needs for follow-up.
You will motivate supervisees to abide by their supervision conditions and may be required to refer them to relevant community agencies and prosocial groups for additional support and assistance.
Training
As a new volunteer, you will undergo Prison Volunteer Training to familiarise yourself with the SPS’s throughcare approach and the do’s and don’ts during the engagement of supervisees.
You will also be further equipped with the skills and knowledge to provide case management and befriending for the supervisees in the community.
Benefits and recognition
As a Home Team volunteer, you will have access to a range of corrections-related training courses and partner with SPS staff in supporting community corrections. Our philosophy of involvement includes providing you with the necessary orientation, opportunities for personal development, and insights to the lived experience of the ex-offending population.
In appreciation and recognition of your contribution to reintegration efforts, VCOs are invited to attend volunteer appreciation sessions and qualify for volunteer awards.
