Serving Our Nation
National Service in the Home Team
In the Home Team, full-time National Servicemen (NSFs) and operationally ready National Servicemen (NSmen) – collectively called National Servicemen - serve in the Singapore Police Force and the Singapore Civil Defence Force.
What We Do
National Servicemen are an integral part of the Home Team. They work alongside regular officers to maintain law and order and respond to emergencies.
Police National Servicemen
Police National Servicemen conduct patrols, respond to incidents, and manage crowd control operations. They also contribute to the smooth running of major events such as the National Day Parade and year-end celebrations, ensuring that these gatherings remain safe and secure for all.

Examples of Police NS vocations
Police National Servicemen serve in the Protective Security Command (ProCom) and Public Transport Security Command (TransCom). ProCom troopers play a key role in safeguarding Singapore’s critical infrastructure and strategic locations, while TransCom officers protect our public land transport system from crime and security threats.
Police National Servicemen also serve as Ground Response Force officers in the Land Divisions where they carry out frontline policing in our neighbourhoods, while those serving as Police Coast Guard officers safeguard our waters and maritime borders. Police National Servicemen also serve in specialist and support vocations in operations, cyber security, intelligence and investigations.
Civil Defence National Servicemen
SCDF National Servicemen respond to fires, rescue incidents and medical emergencies. Their readiness and skills are critical in protecting lives and property during emergencies.

Examples of SCDF NS vocations
National Servicemen in the Fire & Rescue vocation save lives and properties through firefighting and rescue operations, while the Emergency Medical Technicians respond to medical emergencies and play a critical role in providing pre-hospital care.
SCDF National Servicemen also serve in roles to foster engagement and emergency preparedness in the community, and in crucial operational and service support vocations.
