Appointment of new chairman to the Gambling Regulatory Authority board
1 April 2026
1. Mr. Hoong Wee Teck, currently the Deputy Chairman of the Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA), will be appointed Chairman of GRA with effect from 1 April 2026. He succeeds Mr. Tan Tee How, who has been Chairman since 2018.
2. Mr. Hoong is the former Commissioner of Police, with 38 years of distinguished service in the Singapore Police Force, including 11 years as its Commissioner.
3. Under Mr. Tan’s leadership, GRA underwent a strategic transformation from a casino regulator to national regulator of all forms of gambling in Singapore. In this journey, Mr. Tan ably steered GRA’s priorities and development, whilst maintaining strong governance oversight. His leadership has helped GRA to effectively fulfil its responsibilities of keeping gambling in Singapore free from criminal influence, and minimising its harms to Singapore society.
4. MHA would like to thank Mr Tan for his service and contributions to GRA, and wish him the best in his future endeavours.
