Breakdown of road accidents, injuries and fatalities across passenger cars, private hire cars and taxis

Question:
Ms Eileen Chong Pei Shan: To ask the Senior Minister, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs for each year in the past five years, what were the number of (i) accidents reported (ii) accidents involving injuries and (iii) accidents involving fatalities reported for (i) passenger cars (ii) private hire cars and (iii) taxis, respectively.
Answer:
Mr K Shanmugam, Senior Minister, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs:
1. From 2021 to 2025, the number of accidents that resulted in injuries on average annually was about 3,160 involving passenger cars1 , 1,220 involving private hire cars (PHCs)2 , and 670 involving taxis3.
2. From 2021 to 2025, the number of accidents that resulted in fatalities on average annually was about 29 involving passenger cars, 12 involving PHCs, and six involving taxis.
3. The Traffic Police (TP) does not track accidents that do not involve injuries or fatalities, as these are not required to be reported.
[1] This refers to Singapore-registered motor cars excluding PHCs registered for paid chauffeur services and taxis.
[2] This refers to vehicles registered for paid chauffeur services, regardless of whether they were conducting such services at the time of the accident.
