Question:
Ms Valerie Lee: To ask the Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs in light of manpower constraints and operational demands, what guidelines are in place to ensure the safety and well-being of auxiliary police officers particularly when managing traffic at road junctions for long shifts.
Answer:
Mr K Shanmugam, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs:
1. As the industry regulator, the Singapore Police Force works closely with the Auxiliary Police Forces (APFs) and issues directives to ensure the continuity and reliability of APF services. These directives contain requirements for APFs to implement measures to ensure the safety and well-being of Auxiliary Police Officers (APOs), in addition to requirements on operational competency and equipping. Measures to address their safety and well-being include limiting deployment hours, and ensuring APOs have sufficient rest between deployments.
