Senior Minister of State for Home Affairs and Foreign Affairs, Mr Masagos Zulkifli to Attend Summit on Countering Violent Extremism, 18-20 February 2015

1. Senior Minister of State for Home Affairs and Foreign Affairs, Mr Masagos Zulkifli, will be leading a delegation to attend the White House Summit on Countering Violent Extremism (CVE), which will be held from 18 to 20 February 2015 in Washington, D.C., United States of America. The Summit aims to develop an action agenda to address the phenomenon of violent extremism by bringing together key leaders from around the world.

2. Besides meeting officials from the State Department and the Department of Homeland Security at the CVE Summit, SMS Masagos will also be meeting the Special Representative for Muslim Communities Shaarik Zafar to discuss issues of mutual interest, including efforts to counter radicalisation and rehabilitation.

3. SMS Masagos’ visit will reaffirm Singapore’s commitment towards the anti-ISIS coalition and in the fight against violent extremism.

4. SMS Masagos will be accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
