SGSecure Campaign 2026 and new series of SGSecure Roadshow
5 March 2026
1. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) launched the new SGSecure campaign, Play Your Role, at the first of a new series of the SGSecure Roadshow on 5 March 2026, at Bishan Junction 8.
SGSecure Campaign 2026: Play Your Role
2. The terrorism threat to Singapore remains high, with online self-radicalisation continuing to be the primary driver. [1] Youth radicalisation is of particular concern.
3. Building on the foundation laid by the 2023-2025 What’s Your Role? campaign , which encouraged Singaporeans to discover how they can prevent, detect, and respond to the threat of terrorism, the Play Your Role campaign shifts the focus from awareness to action. It aims to inspire Singaporeans to stay vigilant, and to be prepared by acquiring the necessary skills and knowledge to respond effectively to terror threats. The new campaign visuals highlight various roles Singaporeans can play with simple and practical actions that anyone can take, in different scenarios, to keep Singapore safe and secure (please refer to Annex).
Closer Than We Think Short Film
4. At the heart of the campaign is an emotive short film titled Closer Than We Think, which tells the story of a terrorist attack in reverse chronology. The film opens with the devastating attack by the perpetrator and retraces the events leading up to it, such as the missed opportunities to intervene by her family members and those around her. As it continues to unfold backwards, it ultimately reveals the perpetrator’s self-radicalisation online, revealing warning signs that went unnoticed. The core message: anyone, regardless of age, gender, religion or profession, can be susceptible to radicalisation; early reporting of suspected radicalised behaviours to the authorities will allow the individual to receive timely help.
5. Members of the public may watch the short film on MHA’s YouTube channel. The campaign visuals and film will also be on display at various engagement touchpoints across domains, such as at grassroots events, in schools and institutes of higher learning, and during engagement sessions with community and religious organisations.
New Series of SGSecure Roadshow
6. A new series of the SGSecure Roadshow will be rolled out across Singapore in 2026. The refreshed roadshow aims to drive home a clear message: terrorism is closer than we think, and every member of the community has a role to play to keep Singapore safe and secure from terrorism.
7. With interactive activities set in familiar spaces (e.g. a bedroom, a hawker centre), the roadshow invites visitors to ponder what they can do to prevent, respond to or deal with a terrorist attack in their own neighbourhood. Visitors will learn practical knowledge and skills, such as spotting suspicious behaviours and items in different scenarios, identifying signs of radicalisation, and to stop rather than spread false rumours in the aftermath of an attack. In so doing, the roadshow aims to have visitors appreciate the importance of vigilance and preparedness, and to take collective responsibility in keeping our community safe and secure . Towards the end of the experience, visitors can upload their own digital avatar to a digital community wall as a symbol of their commitment to play their role to keep Singapore safe from terrorism.
8. Members of the public are encouraged to visit the SGSecure Roadshows. The series kicked off at Junction 8 from 5 to 8 March 2026, with three more runs planned across Singapore later in the year. Please visit the SGSecure website (www.sgsecure.gov.sg/play-your-role) for updates on the schedule of the upcoming roadshows.
