Statistics on Part 9 of AMLA police reports, investigated cases and investigation outcomes in past decade

Question:
Mr Fadli Fawzi: To ask the Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs in the past 10 years (a) how many police reports have been filed for suspected offences under Part 9 of the Administration of Muslim Law Act 1966; (b) how many have been in vestigated; and (c) what have been the investigation outcomes, as broken down by the number classified for (i) no further action (ii) issued with police warning and (iii) referred to the Attorney-General’s Chambers.

Mr K Shanmugam, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs:
1. From 2016 to 2025, there were four police reports made for suspected offences under Part 9 of the Administration of Muslim Law Act (AMLA).
2. In one case, the Police, in consultation with the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC), administered a warning to the person involved. In another case, the person was prosecuted and convicted in court.
3. Investigations are ongoing for the other two cases.
