Status of step-up measures to be implemented by Carousell and additional consumer protection measures against e-commerce scams

Mr Alex Yeo: To ask the Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs (a) what is the implementation status of the step-up measures that Carousell committed to by 31 January 2026 under the E-Commerce Code of the Online Criminal Harms Act 2023 , given the increasing misuse of Singpass-verified Carousell accounts for e-commerce scams; and (b) whether the Ministry intends to implement any further measures to protect consumers from similar e-commerce scams.

1. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is assessing the effectiveness of the measures implemented by Carousell in preventing the misuse of Singpass-verified accounts, and will provide an update when ready. We continue to monitor the scam situation on Carousell closely and will consider further measures if necessary.
