Tracking of recurring police reports against business sales practices in past five years to identify potential criminal conduct

Mr Low Wu Yang Andre: To ask the Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs (a) in the past five years, how many business entities were the subject of recurring or repeated police reports regarding sales practices that were subsequently deemed to b e civil disputes; and (b) whether the Police tracks such repeated reports to identify potential criminal conduct.

Mr K Shanmugam, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs:
1. The Police do not track police reports of cases which were regarded as civil in nature. Assessments are made on the facts, and where necessary, advice is obtained from the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) on whether a case is likely criminal and can be the subject of prosecution.
