Question:
Mr Gan Thiam Poh: To ask the Minister for Home Affairs how many foreign spouses of Singaporeans have been granted PR and citizenship respectively in 2016.
Answer:
1. Foreign spouses married to Singapore Citizens (SCs) may be granted Permanent Residence (PR), and subsequently Singapore Citizenship (SC), under the Family Ties Scheme (FTS).
2. In 2016, around 4,600 and 3,400 foreign spouses of SCs were granted PR and SC respectively.
