Written Reply to Parliamentary Question on \rNumber of Enforcement Actions Against Motorists Who Do Not Slow Down Enough When Approaching Pedestrian Crossings in the Past Five Years

Question:

Ms He Ting Ru: To ask the Minister for Home Affairs (a) in each year of the last five years, how many enforcement actions have been taken against drivers of vehicles who do not slow down sufficiently when approaching a pedestrian crossing as required under the Road Traffic (Pedestrian Crossings) Rules; and (b) whether the Ministry is studying any measures to reduce accidents as a result of motorists failing to slow down at pedestrian crossings.

1. The data requested by the Member is in Table 1.

2. The Traffic Police works closely with the Land Transport Authority to review and implement measures to improve road safety. These include improvements to infrastructure, and public engagement and education initiatives, as well as enforcement against offending motorists. These efforts have been covered in the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Transport’s replies to other Parliamentary Questions on 7 May 2024.
