Question

Mr Murali Pillai: To ask the Minister for Home Affairs whether notices providing guidance on the use of AED or highlighting the option of calling 995 to get help on the use of AEDs can be put at all public locations where AEDs are installed to assist members of public needing to use the AEDs but have not received training on how to use them.

Answer:

1.     AEDs are easy to operate – the user simply needs to turn on the machine and follow the voice prompts. Callers to the 995 Operations Centre will also be guided on performing chest compressions and applying the AED.

2.     In addition, every AED cabinet installed in HDB blocks under the SCDF’s Save-a-Live initiative comes with a QR Code that links to an online instructional video.A new sticker, with clear step-by-step instructions on how to handle suspected cardiac arrest cases, will also be affixed to the bottom left of the AED cabinet by July 2019.
