Published: 03 February 2020

Question:

Ms Sylvia Lim: To ask the Minister for Home Affairs (a) how many persons have been charged in court with offences under the Terrorism (Suppression of Financing) Act; (b) of the persons so charged, how many and what proportion are Singaporeans; and (c) what is the range of the amounts allegedly collected or provided by the accused persons in support of terrorism-related activities.

Answer:

    1. To date, 11 individuals have been charged under the Terrorism (Suppression of Financing) Act, of whom two are Singaporeans.

    2. The amounts involved ranged from $60 to $1,200. Police treat every case seriously. Any support for terrorism-related activities, no matter the amount, threatens our national security.
