Answer:

Mr K Shanmugam, Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law:

1. The yearly attrition rate of paramedic officers and paramedic specialists in the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) from 2016 to 2022 is in Table 1.

Table 1: Attrition Rate of SCDF Paramedic Officers and Paramedic Specialists from 2016 to 2022
Data on   2016 2017  2018  2019  2020  2021  2022
 Paramedic Officer* 0.0%  1.8%
 Paramedic Specialist 1.7% 0.6% 2.7%  2.5%  1.8%  4.5%  8.9%

2. SCDF paramedics belong to the Home Affairs Uniformed Services (HUS). The compensation package of the HUS is regularly reviewed to ensure that it remains market competitive. The latest review was in January 2023, where the officers received a salary adjustment of between 3% and 8%. Since 2019, HUS officers have been receiving strategic payments at specific milestones in their career in the Home Team as part of the remuneration package.
