Written Reply to Parliamentary Question on Considerations Towards Allowing a Resident’s Record From the Gambling Regulatory Authority to Be Included in His Credit Bureau Report

Published: 04 July 2023

Question:

Mr Gan Thiam Poh: To ask the Minister for Home Affairs whether the Government will consider allowing a resident’s record from the Gambling Regulatory Authority to be included in his Credit Bureau Report.

Answer:

Mr K Shanmugam, Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law:

1. Credit reports are issued by credit bureaus licensed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore, for the purpose of facilitating financial institutions’ assessment of a borrower’s creditworthiness. The data used in credit reports are provided by the members of the credit bureaus, such as banks. Government agencies, including the Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA) are not members of the credit bureaus, and do not contribute data to them. It would not be appropriate for GRA to share any data with them.
