[#]   The sum of the offence types may not add up to the number of accidents. Investigations may stretch across years, and there may not be any offences disclosed in some of the accidents.

[^] There is an increase in the number of offences charged under the Road Traffic Act (RTA) after 2019. Prior to 2019, offenders were charged under the Penal Code or the RTA for irresponsible driving. In 2019, MHA consolidated irresponsible driving offences under the RTA. The increase in the overall number of dangerous and careless driving offences in 2020 and 2021 is attributable to these amendments to the RTA in 2019.
