Committee of Supply Debate 2017


Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam, Senior Minister of State Desmond Lee and Parliamentary Secretary Amrin Amin outlined MHA's plans for the coming year at MHA's Committee of Supply debate in Parliament on Friday, 3 March 2017.


MHA's announcements are as follows:


  • The Home Team will continue to strengthen our counter-terrorism capabilities. The Government's efforts are not enough. The community also has important roles to play.
  • The Home Team will step up and expand SGSecure engagement efforts to workplaces, and enhance our community partnerships and responses.
  • The Home Team is transforming to address future challenges. This includes ramping up the use of technology, further integrating the Home Team's operations and strengthening community partnerships.
  • The Home Team and the community must tackle the scourge of drugs together, especially in the area of youth drug abuse. The Home Team will continue our rehabilitation and reintegration efforts to break the vicious cycle of re-offending.
